On 13th February 2024, a delegation of 19 people from Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta, Indonesia, including Prof. Isawan, Dean of the Faculty of Education, and Professor Herwina Bahar, Director of the Graduate School, visited the Department of Disability Sciences at the Institute of Human Sciences, University of Tsukuba.
A research forum on inclusive education was held for three hours from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and was coordinated by Prof. Hiroki Yoneda, Chair of the Master’s and Doctoral Programs in Disability Sciences and Head of the Inclusive Education Systems Development Research Unit.
The forum started with an introduction to the Institute of Human Sciences and Department of Disability Sciences, followed by an explanation of the status of support for students with disabilities in the Bureau of Human Empowerment (BHE), a tour of the facilities, and an exchange of information and opinions regarding inclusive education research. A lively discussion also followed on future joint research.
After establishing the contact points between the two parties, both universities decided that they will continue to consider holding exchanges and joint research in the future despite this one being only the first exchange with Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta.
