2019年6月7日、米国オハイオ州のNisonger Centerにおいて日米の発達障害学生支援に関する国際研究ミーティングが実施され、人間系の竹田一則教授、野呂文行教授、米田宏樹准教授、佐々木銀河准教授、宮内久絵助教、末吉彩香研究員が参加しました。Nisonger CenterはOhio State’s Wexner Medical Center Neurological Instituteの一部で、発達障害をはじめとする障害児者への支援や教育の機会を地域社会に提供するとともに、学生や臨床研究者に研究の機会を提供しています。ミーティングでは高校から大学、学校から職場などの移行期における支援実践や研究の状況について、Marc J. Tassé教授とMargaretha Izzo講師より最新の取り組みについて共有いただきました。また、Nisonger Centerの研究・臨床設備について視察を行いました。
本ミーティングは日本学術振興会科学研究費助成事業（基盤研究（A）18H03653）「大学における合理的配慮と支援モデルの最適化に基づくニューロダイバーシティの実現」（研究代表者：竹田一則教授）の一環として行われ、日本の大学における支援モデル構築に関する応用研究に向けた貴重な資料を得る機会となりました。今後は本ミーティングで得た知見をもとに、我が国の発達障害学生支援における支援体制の整備等を検討していく予定です。
On June 7, 2019, at the Nisonger Center in Ohio, USA, an international research meeting on the support for students with developmental disabilities in Japan and the United States was held. Professors Kazunori Takeda, Fumiyuki Noro, Associate Prof. Hiroki Yoneda, Ginga Sasaki, Assistant Prof. Hisae Miyauchi and Researcher Ayaka Sueyoshi who belong to Faculty of Human Sciences, Unitvesity of Tsukuba participated. The Nisonger Center, part of the Ohio State's Wexner Medical Center Neurological Institute, provides the community with support and education for children and adults with developmental disabilities and/or other disabilities, as well as research opportunities for students and clinical researchers. At the meeting, Professor Marc J. Tassé and Professor Margaretha Izzo in the Nisonger Center shared their latest works of support practices and research during the transition period from high school to university and from school to work. We also visited Nisonger Center's research and clinical facilities.
This meeting is part of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (A) "Realization of Neuro-Diversity by Optimisation of Reasonable Accommodation and Support Model in University (18H03653)" (Research leader: Kazunori Takeda). This was an opportunity to obtain valuable information for applied research on building support models at Japanese universities. In the future, based on the knowledge gained at this meeting, we plan to develop a support system for students with developmental disabilities in Japan.
